Keeping your Windows operating system up to date is a critical part of preventing viruses. Many viruses infect computers using problems that can be fixed by installing Microsoft's critical updates. The steps below will help you keep your machine secure and up to date.
Click 
to go to Microsoft Windows Update.
(Internet Explorer only)
Open Internet Explorer!
Type in http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com as the address.
Microsoft's website will check to ensure the latest version of Microsoft Windows Update software is installed.
Choose to run the express install.
Windows Update will check for Microsoft Windows updates.
Review the updates found and click the "Install..." button.
All needed Updates are downloaded to your pc.
The updates will automatically begin to install once they are successfully downloaded.
Updates are installing
When the updates have completed you may be prompted to reboot.
Repeat the previous steps until you are told there are no more updates found.
